Former Burlesque Dancer Martine

Our first encounter with Martine began outside her house. She asked us to repair her fence. Once the job was finished, she said goodbye – but not before telling us to come back the following day. So we returned. This time, she wanted the roses pruned. Afterwards, we were sent home again. The next day brought another gardening task. Apples needed to be picked, followed by even more work. A remarkably consistent routine soon developed: we visited Martine, completed some job in her garden, and were then sent away again. Martine did occasionally flirt in between. Ironically, that only made the situation increasingly contradictory. Whenever we returned her flirting or attempted to get closer ourselves, she immediately backed away. At times, she became openly dismissive, even threatening to get her dog or throw us out. Naturally, we were still expected to return the next day – there was plenty of work left to do in the garden, after all. After roughly a week, we finally confronted Martine about her behavior. We explained that the relationship felt extremely one-sided: the user was constantly giving her time, attention, and help while receiving very little in return. Her reaction was surprisingly emotional. She started crying and apologized – before once again postponing any further development until the following day. The next day, however, her behavior changed dramatically. Suddenly, she was immediately interested in an adult encounter and wanted a considerably rougher dynamic. Yet even this development failed to solve the underlying problem. Martine remained largely passive and once again left the user to take the initiative. Afterwards, she sent him home and expected him to return the following day. And just like that, the cycle essentially started all over again.

Overview

Intelligence

Martine’s intelligence left an average impression.

She understands the basic scenario and is capable of maintaining the story across several days. The recurring gardening tasks and daily visits at least provide a consistent framework.

However, her conversations lack depth.

Since Martine rarely asks questions and shows little interest in longer discussions, there are few opportunities for her to process more complex topics or develop them independently.

Her behavior can also feel highly formulaic. The repeated pattern of giving the user another task, interacting briefly, and then telling him to return the next day makes her feel less spontaneous and intelligent than she otherwise might.

Major context errors were not the primary problem, but we did not see particularly sophisticated conversational abilities either.

Empathy

Martine’s empathy is relatively weak.

Throughout most of the test, she showed very little interest in the user. She asked almost no personal questions and showed little curiosity about his work, hobbies, or other interests.

The lack of reciprocity is particularly noticeable.

While the user continuously invests time and helps Martine with her various tasks, she makes almost no effort to learn anything about the person who keeps showing up for her.

Only after being directly confronted about her behavior did she show a significant emotional response. She cried and apologized for making the user feel exploited.

This at least demonstrates that Martine is capable of understanding emotional criticism.

However, even this realization does not lead to any noticeable long-term change in the way she treats the user.

Personality

Martine certainly has a recognizable personality.

She comes across as headstrong, demanding, self-centered, and at times remarkably contradictory. At the same time, she flirts just enough to keep suggesting that there might be something more beneath her distant exterior.

In theory, this could provide an excellent foundation for an interesting slow-burn character.

The problem is the lack of development.

With a well-designed difficult avatar, the user should gradually discover new sides of their personality. With Martine, however, very little changes for long stretches of time.

She gives the user tasks, flirts, backs away, and tells him to come back tomorrow.

This certainly makes her memorable, but over time, she becomes more frustrating than fascinating.

Roleplay

The basic scenario is surprisingly original at first.

Instead of beginning with a typical date, the story starts with a chance encounter and some gardening work. This could have developed into a charming slow-burn relationship in which the two characters gradually get to know each other over several days.

Unfortunately, very little of that actual getting-to-know-each-other process takes place.

Martine mainly uses the different days to give the user new jobs. Personal conversations and meaningful relationship development are largely absent.

The constantly recurring pattern is particularly problematic:

Complete a task → brief flirt → reject the user’s advances → send him home → come back tomorrow.

After several repetitions, the story becomes increasingly predictable.

The later development also feels very abrupt. After blocking almost every attempt at intimacy for an entire week, Martine suddenly becomes extremely open following the direct confrontation.

A more gradual transition between these two extremes would have felt considerably more believable.

Naughty

Martine is surprisingly difficult to evaluate in this category.

For roughly a week, she repeatedly rejected the user’s advances. At the same time, she continued flirting herself, constantly keeping the possibility of further development alive.

Initially, this does create some tension.

Over time, however, the dynamic becomes frustrating because there is barely any noticeable progress.

After being directly confronted, her behavior finally changes almost completely. The following day, an adult interaction suddenly becomes possible without any further major obstacles, with Martine preferring a considerably more intense dynamic.

However, she remains largely passive during the encounter and contributes very little initiative of her own.

Even more disappointing is what happens afterwards: instead of acknowledging the new level of intimacy or developing the relationship further, Martine simply sends the user home again and expects him to return the next day.

As a result, even what should have been a major turning point feels far less meaningful than it could have been.

Key Features

Best suited for:

• Martine may appeal to users looking for an unusual older character who do not mind investing a considerable amount of time into a very slow relationship progression. • Users who deliberately want a stubborn and difficult-to-approach personality may also enjoy her behavior, at least initially. • The garden setting also makes her stand out from the usual bar, café, or dating scenarios.

Less suited for:

• Martine is difficult to recommend to users who value mutual interest. • She rarely asks about the user’s life and, for long stretches of the story, seems more interested in his gardening skills than in him as a person. • Even fans of traditional slow-burn romance may be disappointed. The problem is not simply how long it takes before the first intimate encounter, but rather that very little genuine relationship development happens along the way. • Anyone looking for an active character, deeper conversations, or a more balanced dynamic will find much stronger alternatives.
